
Job Captain, Architecture
Coordinate projects to ensure successful client delivery.Overview:
The Job Captain (JC), Architecture at Arete Design Studio (ADS) coordinates projects to ensure excellence and efficiency. With support from the Project Manager, the JC works within ADS's team culture to establish cooperation and communication with consultants, vendors, and ADS's staff. The JC also completes construction documents and ensures project documents are high quality and accurate.
Essential Functions:
- Manages project through construction administration phase, including construction document development, scheduling, and budget.
- Reviews construction documents to ensure compliance with firm standards, building systems, codes, and other requirements.
- Coordinates with consultants, external partners, and ADS staff to maintain effective project communication on design, construction documents, details, and administrative details.
- Assists with permitting process, ensuring that municipalities receive all necessary documents.
- Reconciles ADS priorities and client goals to develop and deliver projects that meet client expectations, generate profit, and contribute to strategic vision of ADS.
- May mentor ADS's junior staff to call forth creativity and excellence in a way that delivers on client expectations and facilitates staff growth.
Skills and Abilities
- 5+ years of progressively responsible project experience, particularly in commercial and/or industrial sectors.
- A bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in architecture, engineering, or a related field.
- Technical knowledge of design, building trends, energy efficiency, and construction methods.
- Relevant knowledge of building codes, ADA requirements, and permitting process.
- Outstanding attention to detail, with an ability to produce detailed, high quality projects in an allocated number of hours.
- Strong communication skills, with an ability to build productive working relationships with clients, staff, consultants, and vendors.
- Solid work ethic, personal integrity, and high professional standards, including an appreciation for maintaining confidential information.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD required. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, and office management platforms preferred.
Travel Requirements:
Domestic and international travel may be required, depending on project location.
